Treatment and symptoms of RDW 23.4 % | Diet for high Red cell distribution width level 23.4 %

RDW 23.4

High RDW level of 23.4 can cause a number of symptoms.

An abnormal RDW (Red Cell Distribution Width) of 23.4 measures the variation in red blood cell sizes. An abnormal RDW of 23.4 may indicate mixed nutritional deficiencies (like iron and B12), early stages of anemia, or bone marrow disorders. It helps differentiate between different types of anemia and is often interpreted with MCV (mean corpuscular volume) for a complete diagnosis. Consistent RDW monitoring can help track response to treatment. You have several treatment choices, but the most vital action is to switch up your diet right away.

What to do after RDW blood test?

If bleeding occurs after your RDW test, raise your arm and apply pressure to the spot for at least 3 minutes. It’s normal to see some bruising after a RDW blood draw. If you feel pain following the RDW test, apply ice wrapped in a towel to the area for 10 minutes. For anything more than mild discomfort, contact your doctor.
