How Della Yang treated high esr?

Note - This article is written by one of our patients about their experiences with high esr.

Della Yang here, and I recently learned that I have a high ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) of 100. Let me describe my experience with diagnosis, symptom management, and the critical role my family had in my support.

It all started when I began to experience ongoing weariness, joint discomfort, and an overall malaise. At first, I linked these signs to my hectic job schedule and stress. But as time passed, my symptoms got worse, and I made the decision that I should see a doctor.

My doctor advised me that my ESR level was notably high, indicating potential inflammation in my body, after I underwent many tests and examinations. I was disturbed and perplexed by this information, but I was determined to take charge of my health. My doctor informed me that additional research was required to pinpoint the precise cause because a high ESR could be an indication of an underlying disease.

I underwent a number of diagnostic procedures during the ensuing weeks, including blood tests, X-rays, and a comprehensive physical examination. The outcomes showed that I had rheumatoid arthritis, an inflammatory disease that is characterised by persistent joint inflammation. It was overwhelming to learn of my diagnosis, but it also gave me a sense of comfort since I now knew why I was feeling the way I was.

Rheumatoid arthritis came with its own set of difficulties. Even simple actions like getting out of bed or opening a jar were really difficult for me because of the pain in my joints. I had trouble moving around and had to turn to painkillers to get over the ache. But I was resolved not to let the illness limit or define who I am.

I started a thorough therapy programme with my family's steadfast support. My doctor gave me prescription drugs to reduce the inflammation and stop the condition from getting worse. I was also recommended to a rheumatologist and a physical therapist, both of whom were crucial in my quest to lower my ESR value.

I significantly altered my daily routine after seeing how important a healthy lifestyle is in treating chronic diseases. I made time for regular exercise, concentrating on low-impact exercises like swimming and mild stretching that my physical therapist advised. These workouts reduced stiffness and increased joint flexibility.

Diet was also very important in helping me control my symptoms. I went to a nutritionist for advice, and she advised me to eat a diet low in pro-inflammatory foods including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats. I reduced the amount of processed foods, sugary snacks, and caffeine in my diet, which helped to reduce inflammation and enhance my general wellbeing.

Stress management developed into yet another crucial component of my path. To calm my thoughts and lessen worry, I practised relaxation techniques including meditation and deep breathing exercises. I also got assistance from a therapist who guided me through the emotional difficulties that came with my diagnosis.

My family was by my side the entire time, giving me constant support and inspiration. They accompanied me to doctor's visits, lent a sympathetic ear when I was frustrated, and modified our daily schedules to suit my requirements. Even on the worst days, their love and compassion kept me upbeat and inspired.

I saw improvements in my symptoms and a drop in my ESR value gradually but steadily. I was able to do some of the activities I had previously loved as the pain subsided. I was determined to have a fulfilling life despite my diagnosis, despite the occasional setbacks.

I was able to lower my ESR number today because to the ongoing assistance of my family and medical specialists. I now prioritise self-care, pay attention to my body, and know when I need to take a break. My experience with rheumatoid arthritis has taught me how to be resilient, patient, and how crucial it is to have a solid support network.

Even though treating high ESR can be difficult, it is still possible to live a happy life with the correct treatment plan, lifestyle changes, and a supportive network. I am a living example of the value of family and the ability to persevere in the face of chronic disease.
