How Raiden Wiggins treated high cholesterol?

Note - This article is written by one of our patients about their experiences with high cholesterol.

My name is Raiden Wiggins, and I recently travelled to a relaxing beach resort for a much-needed holiday. I had no idea that this vacation would usher in a trip that would change my life. I decided to put my health first during my break from the daily work and arranged a routine blood test. I was shocked to see that my cholesterol levels were elevated and measured at 215.

The news threw me off surprise at first. I had always thought of myself as being concerned about my health, routinely working out, and eating a decently balanced diet. I, however, was unable to ignore the symptoms that had been bothering me. I often felt tired, and even basic things like climbing stairs got more and more difficult. My body appeared to be trying to tell me something, and the diagnosis has finally validated my impressions.

I immediately sought medical counsel and spoke with a skilled doctor who gave me direction and assurance. The doctor emphasised that although high cholesterol levels can be affected by both inherited and lifestyle factors, they can still be properly managed. She emphasised the need for me to adjust my lifestyle significantly in order to lower my cholesterol readings to a more healthy range.

I embarked on a journey to control my excessive cholesterol levels because I was driven and determined. A change in diet was taken as the initial step. I said good-bye to my favourite fatty meals and enthusiastically embraced a heart-healthy diet. My new eating plan was built on fresh fruits, veggies, nutritious grains, lean proteins, and low-fat dairy items. I happily experimented with meals that were both nourishing and delicious as cooking at home became a habit.

Along with changing my diet, I also made a conscious effort to eat less saturated and trans fats. Instead, I substituted healthier fats like avocados, almonds, and olive oil in my meals. I stayed strong in my commitment, continuously reminding myself of the broader purpose—taking control of my health and general well-being—even though the desire for fried meals periodically crept in.

I started incorporating exercise into my regular regimen. I made a commitment to a comprehensive fitness programme that included flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular activities. Exercises like swimming sessions, seashore runs, and group exercise courses not only assisted me in losing excess weight, but they also helped lower my cholesterol levels.

I changed my food and workout routines, and I also changed my lifestyle. Deep breathing exercises, yoga, and other stress-reduction strategies have become a vital part of my daily routine. I quit smoking and greatly reduced my alcohol intake after realising the harm they did to my heart health and cholesterol levels.

Monitoring and keeping track of my cholesterol levels became an important part of my journey. I constantly kept in touch with my doctor, setting up frequent check-ups to evaluate my development. As a result, treatment plans were modified, and when medication was required, it was administered to further control my cholesterol levels and lower my risk of heart disease. I strictly followed the prescription schedule because I knew how crucial it was to managing my overall health.

I was lucky to have my family and friends' constant support throughout this journey. They acted as pillars of support, joining me in embracing a healthy lifestyle and celebrating each victory. We experimented with new recipes, went on outdoor excursions, and celebrated even the slightest victories together.

As the months went by, my efforts started to pay off. My cholesterol levels steadily dropped after every checkup with the doctor. I was able to regain my energy and saw an improvement in my health and vitality. Stair climbing, which was formerly a difficult task, became evidence of my progress.

Managing elevated cholesterol levels required steadfast commitment, perseverance, and persistence. It turned out to be a life-changing experience that taught me the value of self-care, discipline, and the significant influence our decisions have on our wellbeing. The diagnosis of elevated cholesterol surprised me at first, but it ultimately sparked a good transformation in my life.

I'm happy to report that my cholesterol levels are now under control, and I appreciate that trip's wake-up call. I went through a process of personal development and transformation that changed how I saw eating, exercise, and self-care. My experience serves as a reminder that, in spite of unforeseen situations, we have the ability to take charge of our health and make positive changes in our lives.
