How Karsyn David treated high fasting blood sugar?

Note - This article is written by one of our patients about their experiences with high fasting blood sugar.

Karsyn David here, and I'd want to talk about my own experience with having high fasting blood sugar levels. During a much-needed getaway to a tranquil beach town, this quest started. I had no idea that this vacation would usher in a difficult route towards health management.

The trip was intended to be a time of rest and renewal, a getaway from the pressures of everyday life. But the continuous exhaustion that had been dragging me down for days wouldn't go away. I put it down to being overworked and in need of some relaxation.

But as the days passed, I began to feel more unsettling symptoms. I was gripped by an insatiable desire, continuously reaching for a water bottle. Going to the toilet more frequently made me feel like my body was attempting to get rid of something. In addition, despite not actively trying to lose weight, I noticed an unexpected weight decrease. It appeared as though my body was going through a change that I couldn't explain.

I made the decision to go for a standard checkup at a nearby clinic because I was worried about these symptoms. I was astonished by the outcomes. Alarmingly, my fasting blood sugar level was 220 mg/dL. I struggled to grasp the gravity of the situation as the doctor's remarks hung in the air. I was told that I had high blood sugar, a condition that needed to be managed right away.

As I considered the possible repercussions of ignoring this condition, fear engulfed me. I was aware that I needed to adjust my lifestyle and take charge of my health. I started by educating myself about diabetes and how it affects my body.

I started a journey of self-care and self-discipline armed with knowledge. I changed to a balanced, low-carbohydrate diet and stopped including sweets in my meals. I made sure that my daily dietary routine included a lot of veggies, lean proteins, and healthy fats. As I learned to pay attention to my body's hunger and satiety cues, portion control became my credo.

My daily schedule become absolutely necessary for regular workout. I made time in my schedule for regular walks, jogs, and strength training activities. It not only assisted me in maintaining a healthy weight but also increased my insulin sensitivity, allowing my body to use glucose more efficiently.

I quickly saw that making dietary modifications and exercising alone would not be sufficient to control elevated fasting blood sugar levels. Controlling stress became essential. To calm my thoughts and lessen tension, I looked into mindfulness practises like meditation and deep breathing exercises. Prioritising good sleep and making sure I had enough rest became essential parts of my routine.

I developed the practise of regularly checking my blood sugar levels. With the help of a glucometer I purchased, I attentively monitored my readings before and after meals. This gave me the knowledge I needed to decide how certain diets and activities affected my blood sugar levels.

There were periods of dissatisfaction and setbacks despite my efforts. On some days, my blood sugar levels would change erratically, demoralising me. But I wasn't going to let these failures define me. I connected with people who shared my struggles by looking for help in local diabetic support groups and internet communities.

My fasting blood sugar levels gradually improved with the passage of time, patience, and unyielding resolve. My readings started to level out and became closer to the advised range. It was proof of the effectiveness of steadfast work and the tenacity of the human spirit.

I learned important lessons from my battle with high fasting blood sugar levels about the need of taking care of oneself and the power of the human body. It gave me the chance to appreciate the priceless gift of health and inspired me to make decisions that would improve my general wellbeing.

I am appreciative for the wake-up call that prompted me to prioritise my health as I look back on my journey to this point. Despite being a lifelong commitment, controlling high fasting blood sugar levels has taught me to see it as a chance for improvement and personal growth. I am constantly reminded of my inner strength and toughness, which gives me the ability to face any challenge that comes my way.
