How Paislee Wong treated low hemoglobin?

Note - This article is written by one of our patients about their experiences with low hemoglobin.

I'm Paislee Wong, and I'd want to talk about my experience learning that I had low haemoglobin levels. I had just recently tied the knot with James, the love of my life, so it was a moment of immense excitement and joy in my life. I had no idea that a simple physical would reveal a health problem that would affect our newlywed life.

I was focused on getting settled in our new house, getting acclimated to marriage, and making plans for the future. In the midst of all the joy, I started to experience some unsettling side effects. I struggled to find the energy to complete even the smallest things since I felt exhausted all the time. I often felt lightheaded and disoriented, and my complexion was whiter than usual. My capacity to properly appreciate this particular period and my regular life started to be affected by these symptoms.

I made the decision to see my doctor to get some answers and find a solution since I was determined to address these worries. A blood test was done as part of the checkup, and the findings surprised me. Only 10.5, substantially below the range of normal, was my haemoglobin level. James and I were both shocked by the news because we had imagined a happy and healthy beginning to our marriage.

My doctor said that low haemoglobin levels could be a sign of anaemia, a condition in which there are insufficient healthy red blood cells in the body to adequately supply oxygen to the tissues. Numerous factors, including dietary deficits, chronic illnesses, or underlying medical disorders, might contribute to anaemia. Additional testing indicated that my anaemia, also known as iron-deficiency anaemia, was predominantly brought on by a lack of iron.

I initially experienced a sense of anxiety and worry about the effects of my low haemoglobin levels. I was concerned that as my energy levels dwindled further, I wouldn't be able to completely engage in our new life together. But I was aware that I needed to attack this problem with grit and optimism.

I started a journey to manage and raise my haemoglobin levels upon the advice of my doctor. My iron deficiency needed to be treated first by changing my diet. I concentrated on adding iron-rich foods like lean meats, leafy greens, fortified cereals, and legumes to my meals. I also discovered how crucial vitamin C is for improving iron absorption, so I made sure to include citrus fruits and other foods high in vitamin C in my diet.

Supplements were also a key component of my therapy strategy. In order to raise my iron levels and promote the creation of healthy red blood cells, my doctor suggested iron supplements. To ensure the effectiveness of the supplements, it was crucial to take them consistently and according to the advised dosage.

I had to put my self-care first and alter my lifestyle to manage low haemoglobin levels. I discovered how to pay attention to my body and rest when necessary to prevent overexertion. Regular exercise became a crucial component of my regimen, although being difficult at first due to my low energy levels. I began with simple workouts like walking and increased the intensity over time as my strength rose. Exercise improved oxygen delivery to my tissues and improved blood circulation.

James, my spouse, provided me with essential support throughout this trip. He stood by my side, giving me support, sympathy, and a sympathetic ear. James actively participated in making sure our home was stocked with nourishing food, encouraged my dietary adjustments, and reminded me to take my supplements. I was able to maintain my commitment to my treatment plan because of his persistent support.

I noticed several improvements over time. My energy levels began to rise, and I experienced less bouts of tiredness and lightheadedness. My skin's colour came back, and I felt more energised. Although it took time, each tiny advancement served me a sign that I was on the correct track.
